Crafting call-to-actions

Often times, our content is well polished and everything else looks presentable and we are ready to submit only to struggle with our call to action. Just why is call to action so important?

A call to action is important as it encourages the reader to take a particular course of action. You can have the most fascinating copy but if your reader doesn’t know what to do next, everything else just fails.

Now the question is, how do we craft call-to-actions? Lucky for you, we have few tips to share!

Be specific and definite
You have to ensure thatyou know what you want your readers to do. Do you want them to subscribe to your service or do you want them to purchase your products? Knowing this helps greatly in crafting your message. It should also only contain a single step of instruction. You may want them to visit a website or send them a mail. This should be stated clearly so your readers would know exactly what is expected of them.

Highlight the benefits
Humans love it when they get rewards. It’s human nature and that’s why it is important that we tap on this factor. Highlighting the benefit on your call-to-action message can be beneficial. What can your readers get in return by subscribing or purchasing your product? Perhaps a free limited magazine? Could it also be a free trial for a month? Such factors can help push for more attention towards your call-to-action.

Increasing Persuasion
Adding the power of persuasion can also help because sometimes, it’s not enough to just tell people what to do. You need to offer an explanation to ‘why’ they have to do it. Below are several examples of persuasive principles that you can use.

A copy is incomplete if there is no call-to-action for your readers. It is important to also place as much attention to this portion to attract as many readers as possible. Now let’s get back to writing!
