Time is of The Essence

It has been spoken and heard off too many times. Phrases such as “I need this report first thing tomorrow morning” and “It’s urgent so could you hand it to me ASAP?

We too, understand the importance of delivering our tasks to our client on time, even better, earlier if possible. Sometimes, things do get out of hand and although we hate to rush our work but at crucial points, it is required. But what to do when that time comes?

Explanation

As copywriting is not as direct as translation, generally more time is needed for copywriting tasks to be completed. It is always important to liaise and explain this crucial point to your client should you feel the dateline is too narrow or you often feel rushed. This is due to the additional research for information that needs to be done for copywriting. In addition, experimenting with our own writing style also requires several rounds of revisions to fit the tone and style the client wishes to have for his copy. Ample time is certainly needed for us to carry out such practices.

Time Planning

When we receive and confirm a copywriting job, we need to plan our time properly. We might already be working on an existing copy and it is important that we set aside some time in our schedule to work on the new assignment. It is our responsibility that we work towards each client’s dateline and it is only right to do so upon confirmation of a job. Therefore, to avoid last minute stress and to uphold our professionalism at the same time, it is important we make certain that we have time and resources to carry out two projects at once.

These two factors become part of our daily practices in order to minimise unhappiness between our clients and us. At times, it is important that we rationalise and plan our schedules ahead to ensure everything runs smoothly. Do you have your own set of daily rules that you follow?
